Continuing Education Poodle Breeding/Training
Here are some of the seminars and courses I've taken to further my knowledge of dogs and Poodle Breeding
- 2018 - PCA Foundation Seminar. Danika Bannasch- BS, DVM, PhD - Professor UC-Davis. Specialty focus is genetics. As a breeder of Nova Scotia Duck Tollers, Dr Bannasch has an inside approach to breeding healthy dogs. The presentation confirmed a lot of my beliefs about avoiding in-breeding, avoid the popular sire, and use genetic test results to eliminate inherited disease carriers.
- 2017 - PCA Foundation Seminar. Puppy Culture presented by Jane Killions. Entertaining speaker but topic is probably more for an inexperienced breeder. Can't really say I learned anything new of significance. Stresses the importance of early puppy socialization.
- 2016 - Judges Education at the Poodle Club of America's National Specialty (PCA) in Salisbury, MD. This seminar was lead by Gina Weiser (AKC Representative and Poodle person) along with Dennis McCoy (AKC judge, PCA president, and former professional handler) and Randy Garrens (AKC judge, PCA vice-president). This was a classroom and hands-on seminar.
- 2015 - Breeder's Seminar by Veterinary Village in Lomira, Wisconsin covering a wide range of topics relevant to breeding better and healthier dogs.
- 2014 - Duke University's "Introduction to Genetics and Evolution" taught by Professor Mohamed Noor. A very demanding on-line course with graded classwork and exams. A passing grade is required to receive a Certificate.
- 2013 - Dr. Margaret Root on-line course in Canine Reproduction Canine Theriogenology for Dog Enthusiasts
- Tracy Sklenar seminar at Think Pawsitive (New Berlin, WI) in 2012 Performance under Pressure
- 2012 - Pat Hastings seminar at the Poodle Club of America's National Specialty Show in Salisbury, Maryland Puppy Evaluation
- 2011 - CHRISTOPHER PACHEL, DVM, DACVB seminar at the Poodle Club of America's National Specialty Show in Salisbury, Maryland Canine Socialization
