Taking a nap in the crate

Taking a nap in the crate

Although we’ve had the crate in the Puppy parlor for them to investigate for a couple of days already, today is the first time they’ve been encouraged to go into the crate by using tiny bits of cheese as a lure.   They liked the cheese so much that there were three pups squeezed into the crate at one time.  (after all these are Wisconsin dogs - yum cheeeese)  In a couple of days I’ll put the door on it and close them in for a few seconds to start.   I fully expect the pups to be just like our other dogs and run willingly and happily into their crates when we ask them to.

First day at the beach

First Day at the Beach

Lots of new things for the puppies to see and do now that they’re getting older - almost five weeks.   In the last couple of days they ate lunch in a different room, got to go into a small crate, walked on the brick walkway,  had their first bath, and climbed on a low cardboard box.   Today they went to the beach!  (really the kids sand pile)

This grass stuff is fun!

This grass stuff is fun!

What an exciting day!  Lots of new smells and surfaces to experience.   And poop on!  Within about one minute of being on the grass four of the six pups did their “business”.   This was a previously unadulterated section of the lawn.   So, how’d they know grass is good to poop on.  After that, all the pups pretty much stayed together, never getting more than 10 -20 feet from one or another.  The temperature was in the mid 70’s F which made the experience all the more enjoyable.
